Romance in Madrid!

Madrid, city for couples
There are no valid excuses not to visit Madrid: architecture, art, museums, the beauty of its streets, shops, food and the typical Spanish atmosphere make Madrid a city worth visiting. In this article we will explore the romantic Madrid, the one that appeals to couples. As you will see, Madrid can easily compete with the likes of Paris and Venice.

Madrid is a truly romantic city, it’s just a matter of finding the most secret and special places of the Spanish capital in order to fall in love with her. Let us show you its streets, its music, its passion and light, and offer you plenty of suggestions for couples.

El Teleférico: admire Madrid from above

Teleférico, the best view of Madrid for couples
What do you think about a cable car trip above Madrid?

The cable car offers locals and tourists the opportunity to rise above the city and look down on some of its most historic buildings and some of its greener districts. It covers a distance of 2.5 km from the centre of Madrid to Casa de Campo, the green heart of the city. A must!

The stunning scenery

Would you like to enjoy a magnificent view of Madrid accompanied by your partner and a glass of wine? Well, the Exe Moncloa Hotel offers one of the most attractive, romantic and cosmopolitan views of the city: the Guadarrama Mountains, Parque del Oeste, the Air Force building (el Ejército del Aire)... Everything that previously could be seen from the Moncloa Tower (Faro de Moncloa), can now be seen from this fantastic rooftop bar. In this special space you can enjoy a drink or an aperitivo, but if you prefer, we suggest the Parque del Cerro del Tío Pío, in the suburb of Vallecas.
Romance in Madrid: fall in love
with this amazing sunset
From any of the hills is possible to see much of the city of Madrid at a glance. Although it is almost unknown to most locals, many people come to this park to sit on one of its hills and watch the wonderful scene of the sunset. From violet to orange, from orange to red, from red to azure… The change of shades is amazing and even more breathtaking is the view of the famous capital’s monuments and buildings. A postcard-worthy view of the city and, why not, perfect for a marriage proposal. ;-)

The most romantic sunset in Madrid

Sunset at the Debod Temple in Madrid
Let me show you a really romantic location where you can enjoy the landscape or a walk hand in hand.

There probably isn’t a more romantic place in Madrid than the Debod Temple at dusk. This temple is considered one of the most beautiful locations to watch the sunset.

Behind the temple there’s a balcony with a magnificent view to the southwest of the city, where the trees of the Casa del Campo Park are tinged with intense colors. Below, you can also observe the grove of the Parque Del Oeste, and the scene is dominated by the remains of this wonderful temple, whose stones are illuminated when the sun reaches its lowest point, and whose stunning reflection is cast in the water of the pond. Do not miss it!

A massage is just what you need, right?

Arab Baths of Madrid
the best romantic activity for couples
And after a busy day exploring the hidden corners of Madrid, do you feel tired? Well, with Madrid being so cosmopolitan, you can take advantage of a typical Andalusian custom: the Arab baths.

There are separate steam rooms, cold baths, warm or hot baths, and massages with essential Al Andalus oils. The Arab Baths of Madrid are the best way to beat the stresses of everyday life and are the perfect formula for exploring the essence of Andalusian culture in the heart of Madrid.

The most romantic restaurants

Enjoy romantic dinners at restaurants in Madrid
What to eat? I will surprise you with the most romantic restaurants in Madrid! Let’s begin with the Pabellon del espejo, historical meeting point for artists, business people and intellectuals. The espejo is perfect for breakfast, tea or even great “cañas”… On the sunniest days, why not fill your stomach with some delicious Spanish appetizers, before hiring a boat (the Parque del Retiro is 500 meters away) and paddling across the lake, for a unique experience in the Spanish capital.

You can also go to the aptly named "Con Amor", a luxurious restaurant in Madrid where the issue is solely that ... love. And they are wholly devoted to love. Check out the menu and you'll know what we are talking about.

We hope that our recommendations have been useful and that you will enjoy Madrid, but also take a look at our other articles to find more travel tips!
