Event of the Week in Madrid: Stand-up comedy El Cavernícola (Defending the Cavemen) with Nancho Novo

El Cavernícola is one of the
most popular comedies in the world.
What better way to relax after an exciting week enjoying Madrid than with a bit of comedy? Plus, if you’re looking to improve your Spanish, this is without doubt a fantastic way to do it (so you can kill two birds in one stone!). This is El Cavernícola’s sixth season and the show is well known for its Broadway success and worldwide acclaim. Often known as the battle of the sexes, the comedy show is based on the misunderstandings that occur between men and women, and is guaranteed to be hilarious.

The comedy show is in Madrid until 25th October (from Wednesday- Sunday each week), so there are plenty of opportunities to see it!

1.    What makes the stand-up comedy El Cavernícola so incredible?

Nancho Novo is a brilliant
 stand-up comedian.
How many comedy shows can you name that have been performed in more than 30 countries and in more than 15 languages? Nancho Novo has been performing this show for five years, so you can also guarantee that you are seeing the comedy at its best.  The author, Rob Becker, from the United States, spent three years writing this outstanding piece of comedy, which has been described as both hilarious and unique, and has been seen by 2 million people in the US alone. It’s set to be a hilarious and enjoyable evening that you can’t afford to miss!

Watch a little of Nancho Novo’s performance (just don’t blame us if you get addicted and end up buying tickets!!)

2.    Whereabouts in Madrid is the El Cavernícola comedy show taking place?

The Teatro Fígaro is in spitting
 distance of the Plaza Mayor.
Nancho Novo will be performing El Cavernícola at the Teatro Fígaro Adolfo Marsillach, in Calle Doctor Cortezo, 5. The nearest metro is Tirso de Molina (line 1), however it is conveniently located between La Latina and the Puerta de Sol, just off Calle Atocha, so there are plenty of ways to get there. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Plaza Mayor, so spending a day in the centre of Madrid and ending the day with a great comedy show couldn’t be easier.

3.    How do I get tickets?

Tickets for the show start from just 15€, depending where in the theatre you want to sit, and when you would like to see the show. Buying tickets online is easy, just pick your day and how many tickets you’d like!  You can also buy tickets on the door, if there are any left…!

4.    I don’t think I’ll understand Spanish comedy, is there anything else I can see instead?

Freshly Comedy is very popular,
providing varied comedy shows.
Yes! If you are worried that your Spanish might not be up to understanding El Cavernícola, don’t panic.  There are plenty of comedy shows in English in Madrid that you can go and see! We recommend Freshly Comedy, who regularly put on reasonably priced comedy shows in English in central Madrid, which are must-sees if you are looking for a fun way to relax in the evening and meet new people!

Whether you choose a comedy show in Spanish or English (or why not try both? ;) ) you are sure to have a fantastic evening! Relax after the week and celebrate the start of the weekend with something a little different.
